Supplier Improvement Engineer

Base is looking for a Supplier Improvement Engineer to source new suppliers, build and own supplier relationships, and to conduct supplier improvement initiatives. The scope of this role will cover Base’s battery system hardware.
Responsibilities:
- Own supplier quality across hardware products.
- Develop corrective actions with suppliers and ensure successful implementation.
- Visit suppliers in support of quality initiatives and interventions.
- Source new suppliers.
- Create and run request for proposals (RFP).
- Negotiate pricing and develop should-cost models.
- Manage supplier capacity based on forecasted demand.
- Negotiate agreements and amendments with suppliers.
Required Skills / Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in supplier quality management role or similar.
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing fundamentals.
- Strong excel and spreadsheet skills.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexible mindset and temperament.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally. Average 25-50% travel.
Preferred Skills:
- Prior quality systems experience (ISO 9000/TS/NADCAP/AS9100).
- Prior hardware sourcing experience.
- Ability to communicate and direct supplier activities at the management level.
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems.
- Language proficiency in Mandarin.
