About Base

Base is building the foundation of American power. The grid is the largest, most complex machine in the world. Yet it’s aging, struggling to keep up with today’s demand, and is unprepared for our electrified future.

Base is modernizing the grid as the first engineering-led, technology-driven power company. We’re deploying a nationwide network of distributed batteries that strengthens critical infrastructure and saves Americans money.

Our team of engineers, operators, creatives, technicians, and electricians design and deploy systems at speed. If you want to tackle the problem that will define this century and shape the future of American energy, now is the time. Join us.

About the Role

Base Power Company is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Pipeline Specialist to drive the critical pre-installation stages of our battery deployments. This role is responsible for ensuring that all necessary permits and interconnection agreements are secured efficiently to facilitate a smooth installation process. The Pipeline Specialist will be the primary liaison for permitting with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) and utilities, expertly navigating complex requirements and timelines. This role is crucial for maintaining a healthy project pipeline and enabling Base Power’s rapid growth. Please note that this role is an hourly position.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare and submit all necessary permit applications and interconnection agreements to the relevant AHJs and utility companies.

  • Proactively manage and resolve challenging interactions with AHJs, including addressing and overcoming rejected permits and navigating unique local requirements.

  • Expertly handle off-nominal permit processes, developing creative and effective strategies to keep projects on track when standard procedures are insufficient.

  • Maintain a clean and meticulously organized project pipeline, ensuring the timely submission and tracking of all required documentation from initial application to final approval.

  • Report out key metrics on pipeline health, providing clear visibility into permit statuses, timelines, and potential bottlenecks to inform strategic decisions.

  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert on permit and interconnection processes, providing guidance to the broader team.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key personnel at various municipalities and utilities.

  • Continuously identify and implement process improvements to increase the speed and efficiency of the permitting and interconnection lifecycle.

What You'll Bring

  • 2+ years of experience in permit coordination, project coordination, or a similar role, preferably within the solar, battery, construction, or utility sectors.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clear and professional customer interactions.

  • Experience scheduling and coordinating with external stakeholders (e.g., inspectors, utility representatives).

  • Proficiency in managing documentation and utilizing online portals.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively address potential roadblocks.

  • Ability to track and analyze data to identify trends and improve processes.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working directly with AHJs and utility companies for inspections and interconnection agreements.

  • Knowledge of solar, battery, or EV charger installation processes and common post-installation requirements.

  • Familiarity with CRM or project management software.

  • Understanding of utility interconnection processes and requirements.

  • Experience in developing and implementing process improvements.

This role is pivotal in ensuring a positive customer experience and increased uptime of battery systems. If you are a detail-oriented, proactive coordinator with a passion for customer satisfaction and process efficiency, we encourage you to apply!
