About Base

Base is building the foundation of American power. The grid is the largest, most complex machine in the world. Yet it’s aging, struggling to keep up with today’s demand, and is unprepared for our electrified future.

Base is modernizing the grid as the first engineering-led, technology-driven power company. We’re deploying a nationwide network of distributed batteries that strengthens critical infrastructure and saves Americans money.

Our team of engineers, operators, creatives, technicians, and electricians design and deploy systems at speed. If you want to tackle the problem that will define this century and shape the future of American energy, now is the time. Join us.

About the Role

Base is looking to hire a Quality Engineer to support the development of our Quality Management System. In this role you will work with the hardware design and manufacturing teams to develop processes and standards that will scale to high-volume operations. This is an exciting opportunity to directly impact our quality and operations roadmap. Base is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on extremely challenging projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of Base’s Quality Management Systems (QMS) in alignment with ISO 9001 requirements

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate QMS into production, engineering, and supply chain processes

  • Develop and maintain documentation, including quality manuals, procedures, and work instructions

  • Analyze quality data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement

  • Lead corrective and preventive action processes to address non-conformances

  • Set up non-conformance work streams and rework processes to support manufacturing

  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to quality system effectiveness

  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards and internal quality policies

Required Skills / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field

  • 3+ years of quality systems experience, with a focus on ISO, AS, or TS compliance

  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, FMEA)

  • Experience with quality tools such as SPC, Six Sigma, or Lean methodologies is a plus

  • Excellent documentation and organizational skills for maintaining QMS records

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with teams and train staff

  • Certification as an ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor is highly desirable

Our Values

We’re building a winning culture and we’re looking for people who are up for the challenge. Here’s what we expect from day one:

  • In-Person Only: We work full-time in the office. No hybrid. No remote.

  • Challenge the Status Quo: Question assumptions. Fix broken systems. Principles > rules.

  • Move Fast: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.

  • Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble. Challenge ideas–including your own.

  • Own the Outcome: Take full responsibility. Deliver results. No excuses.

  • Act Like an Owner: Be resourceful, mindful of impact, and committed to the business.

  • Be Decisive: Drive clarity. Make bold calls with imperfect info.

  • Bring the Intensity: This is not a 9-to-5. We're building something hard which requires real commitment.
