About BasiGo:

BasiGo is an early-stage e-mobility start-up on a mission to transform public transportation in Africa by offering bus operators an affordable, sustainable electric alternative to diesel. We are seeking a Marketing and Communication Specialist to join our team . The Marketing and Communication Specialist will report directly to the Head of Marketing and Communication and indirectly to the Managing Director, Rwanda.

About the Role:

This role will be a key contributor, working closely with various teams across the organization to support a wide range of communication projects. The specialist will play a crucial role in establishing and promoting BasiGo’s brand in Rwanda, external and internal communications, with responsibilities spanning content creation, social media management, event promotion, and media relations.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Content Creation & Copywriting: Craft, edit, and proofread engaging content for internal and external channels, including newsletters, articles, reports, and social media posts.
• Social Media Marketing: Develop and execute social media strategies to boost BasiGo Rwanda's online visibility. Manage and regularly update social media platforms.
• Community Management: Engage with and manage BasiGo's online community, addressing inquiries and fostering positive interactions.
• Event Support: Organize and promote events, conferences, and marketing activities.
• Communication Strategies: Collaborate with the Head of Marketing and Communication to design and implement campaigns promoting BasiGo’s initiatives in Rwanda.
• Media Relations: Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets, pitch stories, and respond to press inquiries in Rwanda.
• Project Management: Execute communication projects, ensuring deadlines are met with high-quality results.
• Reporting: Produce reports on communication activities and analyze the success of campaigns and strategies.
• Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head of Communication and Marketing and Managing Director, Rwanda.

Our Ideal Candidate would have:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field. A member of the Public Relations Society Rwanda with up-to-date certification is an added advantage.

Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or Public Relations in Rwanda.

Experience in a diverse and inclusive work environment and the ability to adapt to change and contribute innovative ideas.

Demonstrated experience in PR and marketing initiatives. Candidates will be expected to present and showcase projects within their portfolio.
