Role Overview
Position: Mechanical Designer
Location: Bengaluru
What You’ll Own:
Product Design & Development
Design mechanical enclosures and assemblies for EV chargers using SolidWorks
Develop sheet metal parts, brackets, frames, and cabinets optimized for manufacturability and cost
Design plastic parts (injection-molded / 3D-printed) including bezels, covers, clips, and cable management parts
Create detailed 2D drawings, GD&T, and BOMs for production
Manufacturing & DFM
Apply DFM/DFA principles for sheet metal fabrication, welding, bending, powder coating, and plastic molding
Work with vendors and internal manufacturing teams to resolve fabrication and assembly issues
Support prototype builds, pilot runs, and mass production ramp-up
Validation & Reliability
Perform tolerance analysis and fitment checks
Support thermal, environmental, and ingress protection (IP) requirements
Assist in mechanical testing: vibration, drop, thermal, and outdoor durability
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with electrical, product, and manufacturing team.
Support installation, serviceability, and field feedback improvements
Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
What You Bring:
Must-Have:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
2–4 years of experience in mechanical product design
Strong hands-on experience with SolidWorks
Experience designing sheet metal enclosures and assemblies
Understanding of plastic part design and basic injection molding principles
Ability to create production-ready drawings and BOMs
Good to Have:
Experience in EV chargers, power electronics, or industrial enclosures
Familiarity with IP ratings (IP54/IP65/IP67) and outdoor products
Knowledge of powder coating, zinc plating, and surface finishes
Experience working with EMS / fabrication vendors
Exposure to thermal management and airflow design
