About the Role
As an experienced Senior Supplier Quality Engineer at Lightship, you will support the production of a high-quality luxury recreational vehicle. You will engage with suppliers for PPAP submission and approval as well as help develop and execute receiving inspections. You will also work cross functionally on root cause analysis and continued improvements through the process.
Responsibilities
- Drive and manage supplier quality activities related to projects (approved supplier list updates, PPAPs, corrective action approval, and general project support).
- Investigate supplier related problems, report to supplier, follow up on 8D submittal, and approve countermeasures.
- Travel up to 30% may be required for domestic supplier visits.
- Monitor parts from acquisition through the manufacturing cycle and communicate and resolve supplier-related problems as they occur.
- Develop and prioritize an auditing schedule to ensure that designated suppliers are audited on a regular basis to confirm good manufacturing practices (GMP) and quality standards are met.
- Evaluate suppliers’ internal functions to assess their overall performance and provide feedback in assessment of their operation.
- Define and execute receiving inspection requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and quality compliance for supplier quality engagement throughout the NPD lifecycle on newly qualified parts, and implementing strategies for driving product quality and continuous improvement, ensuring purchased products and components are manufactured and qualified in accordance with applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electric, Mechanical, Materials, Industrial Engineering, or evidence of exceptional experience in related fields or equivalent
- In-depth knowledge of and experience administrating PPAP and associated documents
- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to hold suppliers accountable
- Self-starter, self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Experience using hand tools for measurements to qualify parts and investigate concerns
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Reading and understanding GD&T drawings and technical documents
- Solid presentation and computer skills (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Projects, etc.)
- Experience leading complex problem solving activities

- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Experience in the automotive industry
