The Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and talented Electrical Engineer to join our growing engineering team. As a key contributor, you will play an essential role in the design, development, and continuous improvement of our state-of-the-art Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Your work will directly support the creation of core electrical components and systems that are at the heart of our mission to provide clean, reliable, and affordable power. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your electrical engineering skills to solve real-world challenges in the cleantech industry.
The Role
- Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 CAD per year
- Location: In-person, Moment Energy Coquitlam Office

Responsibilities and Duties
- Contribute to the electrical design and development of BESS components, including battery management systems (BMS), power conversion systems (PCS), and grid interconnection systems.
- Create and maintain detailed electrical documentation, including wiring diagrams, single line diagrams, electrical panel layouts, and wire harness diagrams.
- Conduct component justification, supplier evaluation, and validation of new parts selected.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers and software developers to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into the overall BESS architecture.
- Support the creation and revision of FMEA documents, Bills of Materials (BOM), and manufacturing/assembly drawings.
- Test, evaluate, and prototype new electrical designs, including testing and operating batteries at multiple different scales, from cell-level to full BESS-level.
- Assist in the electrical design and documentation required to support UL product certifications.
- Participate in the evaluation and onboarding of new suppliers to optimize product cost and function.
- Assist in creating SOPs, design review presentations, and quality documentation.
The Candidate
We’re looking for individuals with the following traits, skills, and experiences:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in the design of electrical systems, preferably for industrial or commercial products.
- Proficiency in at least one common electrical design software package (e.g., Siemens Panel Designer, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical).
- Solid understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals, including circuit design and power systems.
- Experience creating and interpreting electrical schematics and manufacturing drawings.
- Experience with BESS or lithium-ion battery applications.
- Understanding of lithium-ion battery technology, battery management systems (BMS), or power conversion systems (PCS).
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards such as UL1973 or UL9540.
- Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing electrical systems.
