Who We Are Looking For:
Phoenix Tailings is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to play a vital role in the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of controls and instrumentation systems for our sustainable metals production processes. This position is critical to ensuring the reliability, accuracy, and efficiency of instrumentation and controls, particularly in chemical and high-temperature process environments.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in specifying, installing, calibrating, and upgrading instrumentation systems, as well as a solid understanding of control systems and process automation. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams while contributing to Phoenix Tailings' mission of driving innovation and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the specification, installation, and commissioning of instrumentation systems, ensuring compatibility with chemical and high-temperature processes.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of instrumentation and control systems to ensure accurate and reliable operation.
- Develop and program PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred) and configure HMI/SCADA systems (Ignition) for process automation and monitoring.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues with instrumentation and control systems to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
- Support process improvements by optimizing control logic, upgrading instruments, and implementing new technologies.
- Collaborate with the engineering and operations teams on the design and execution of controls and instrumentation projects.
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation, including wiring diagrams, control logic schematics, and calibration records, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Ensure all instrumentation and controls meet regulatory standards and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in controls and instrumentation engineering within chemical, process, or high-temperature industrial environments.
- Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley preferred).
- Experience with HMI/SCADA systems, particularly Ignition.
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation systems, including flow, pressure, temperature, and chemical analysis devices.
- Familiarity with control strategies for chemical processes and process automation.
- Proficiency in CAD software for electrical and instrumentation schematics.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to instrumentation and controls.
- Strong ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
