Who We Are Looking For:
Phoenix Tailings is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer with to support the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of controls and instrumentation systems for our sustainable metal production processes. This role offers a hands-on opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies in chemical and high-temperature process environments, contributing to the reliability and efficiency of our operations.
The ideal candidate will have foundational experience in instrumentation setup, control system programming, and troubleshooting, and will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support Phoenix Tailings' mission of sustainability and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the specification, installation, and commissioning of instrumentation systems, ensuring they meet process requirements and operational standards.
- Configure and implement control systems, including PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred) and HMI/SCADA platforms (e.g., Ignition).
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of instrumentation and controls to ensure accuracy, reliability, and optimal performance.
- Maintain records of calibration and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to instrumentation and control systems, minimizing downtime and disruptions.
- Collaborate with the operations team to address equipment performance concerns and implement solutions.
- Support process improvement initiatives by optimizing control logic, upgrading instrumentation, and implementing new technologies.
- Assist in identifying opportunities to enhance system efficiency and reliability.
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation, including wiring diagrams, schematics, and operational manuals.
- Ensure all instrumentation and controls meet regulatory and safety standards.
- Work closely with R&D, process engineering, and operations teams to integrate controls and instrumentation into production workflows.
- Support cross-functional projects to ensure successful execution and seamless system integration.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in instrumentation and controls engineering within industrial, chemical, or process environments.
- Basic proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley preferred).
- Familiarity with HMI/SCADA platforms, such as Ignition or similar systems.
- Knowledge of instrumentation systems, including flow, pressure, temperature, and chemical analysis devices.
- Understanding of process automation and control strategies.
- Experience with CAD software for creating electrical and instrumentation schematics.
- Familiarity with high-temperature or chemical process environments is preferred.
- Exposure to safety and compliance standards in industrial settings, is preferred.
