About Red Metals
Red Metals is rethinking the domestic copper supply chain at a pivotal moment in American industry.
Copper underpins electrification, data centers, and defense systems. U.S. demand already exceeds domestic supply, and the gap is widening as grid modernization, the energy transition, and buildout of AI infrastructure accelerate.
We are building a new model for this critical industrial layer in the United States.
The Role
We are hiring our first finance team member to build the finance backbone of Red Metals. You will be responsible for building and operating core financial systems of the company.
This means building models, setting up reporting and accounting, and working directly with the CEO on capital allocation, fundraising, and investor communication.
What You’ll Do
Refine and own the company financial model, including operating model, unit economics, and scenario analysis
Translate early operations into forward-looking financial plans
Produce regular analysis, including board-level materials
Stand up accounting and close processes, using external partners where appropriate
Own cash management, burn tracking, and capital planning
Work directly with the CEO and operating team on capital allocation decisions
Support fundraising efforts, including investor materials and diligence
Assist with tax, compliance, and regulatory filings, coordinating with external advisors
Identify and implement tools and automation to improve speed, accuracy, and visibility
Act as a utility player across finance, stepping in where needed as the business evolves
Red Metals Non-Negotiables
-
Bias for Action
We move fast. Speed beats polish. We use every tool, especially AI, to accelerate decisions, execution, and learning.
-
Grit
We do hard things because they matter. We keep pushing when others quit.
-
Ownership
We own outcomes, not tasks. We see problems, fix them, and follow through across functions.
-
Signal
We cut through noise. We communicate clearly and directly so decisions are fast and execution stays sharp.
-
Craft
We take pride in our work. Quality, care, and precision are the standard.
What We’re Looking For
Degree in Finance or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience demonstrating finance capability
3-8+ years finance experience, ideally in metals, mining, refining, or heavy industry
Background in investment banking, private equity, venture, or operating finance (FP&A, strategic finance), with a strong bias toward hands-on operators
Experience with manufacturing, industrial operations, or project finance
Strong modeling skills with an ability to translate messy inputs into clear financial outputs
Comfortable with both high-level strategy and low-level execution, including building models one hour and reconciling accounts the next
Ability to communicate clearly with both operators and investors
Ability to operate with incomplete information and make sound decisions quickly
Demonstrated ability or potential to lead projects or teams in a fast-moving environment
Strong Pluses:
Experience with trading, hedging, or other commodity-related financial instruments
Experience building or scaling a finance function at an early-stage company or startup
Experience supporting capital raises or managing investor relationships
Familiarity with project finance, equipment finance, or working capital structures
Startup or early-stage experience
Why Red Metals
Build a company from zero, not optimize an existing system
Direct ownership of critical process and operational decisions
Work on a problem that matters: rebuilding U.S. industrial capacity
Small team, high trust, no bureaucracy
