About the role:
The Staff Accountant & Payroll Manager is a key member of the Finance team responsible for performing a variety of accounting functions, including general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and managing all aspects of company payroll. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
Accounting
- Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
- Perform account reconciliations for various accounts, including bank accounts, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Assist with the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing process.
- Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
- Assist with the audit process.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
Payroll
- Process bi-monthly payroll for all employees.
- Calculate and process all payroll taxes, including federal, state, and local taxes.
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, 401(k), and other benefit plans.
- Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable payroll and tax laws.
Accounts Payable
- Partners internally to set up Payables.
- Process Payables according to terms.
- Analyzes AP regularly to identify discrepancies and opportunities for cost savings.
- Begins establishing Purchase Request/Purchase Order process.
Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting and payroll.
- Strong understanding of GAAP.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll software.
- Experience with accounting software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Estimated Starting Salary Range:
The estimated starting salary range for this role is $120,000 - $140,000 annually less applicable withholdings and deductions, paid on a semi-monthly basis. The actual salary offered may vary based on relevant factors as determined in the Company’s discretion, which may include experience, qualifications, tenure, skill set, availability of qualified candidates, geographic location, certifications held, and other criteria deemed pertinent to the particular role.
