About the role:

The Nuclear Company is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented ITAAC Engineer to join our Regulatory team in Columbia, South Carolina. This role will be responsible for supporting the verification and closure of Inspections, Tests, Analyses, and Acceptance Criteria (ITAAC), ensuring that nuclear facility construction and modifications comply with all applicable regulatory requirements and design specifications.

The ITAAC Engineer will be an integral part of the team, learning the critical processes involved in transitioning new or modified nuclear facilities from construction to operation. This position will involve supporting the interpretation of ITAAC requirements, organizing evidence, assisting in the preparation of ITAAC closure documentation, and learning about interactions with regulatory agencies to demonstrate compliance with the Combined Operating License (COL).

Responsibilities:

  • ITAAC Verification & Documentation Support:
    • Interpret specific ITAAC requirements as defined in the Combined Operating License (COL) and associated design documents.
    • Assist in gathering, organizing, and reviewing objective evidence (e.g., test reports, inspection records, analysis reports, design documents, construction specifications) to support the demonstration of ITAAC completion.
    • Support the formatting and compilation of information for ITAAC Closure Notifications (ICNs) and other related documentation.
    • Perform required checks to ensure the accuracy and completeness of ITAAC support documentation.
  • Regulatory Familiarization & Application:
    • Begin to understand and apply federal regulations (e.g., 10 CFR Part 52), regulatory guides, and industry standards related to ITAAC and nuclear facility commissioning.
    • Assist in collecting information to assess the impact of design changes or construction deviations on ITAAC fulfillment.
    • Support the preparation of materials and summaries regarding ITAAC requirements.
  • Regulatory Agency Interaction Assistance:
    • Assist in preparing background materials for responses to NRC inquiries related to ITAAC.
    • Participate in regulatory meetings where required.
    • Support administrative tasks related to regulatory inspections focused on ITAAC verification.
  • Compliance Assurance & Tracking Assistance:
    • Support maintenance of records and databases for tracking the status of open ITAAC and associated documentation.
    • Assist in organizing information for internal audits and assessments related to ITAAC and commissioning readiness.
  • Technical Information Support:
    • Collaborate with engineers and other project team members to understand technical data relevant to ITAAC completion.
    • Assist in organizing technical documents and reports for review by senior team members.

Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Civil, etc.) or a related scientific discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in an engineering or technical support role, ideally within a highly regulated industry, preferably nuclear energy.
  • Strong understanding of nuclear power plant design, construction, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new processes and technical information.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Estimated Starting Salary Range:

The estimated starting salary range for this role is $98,000 - $118,000 annually less applicable withholdings and deductions, paid on a semi-monthly basis. The actual salary offered may vary based on relevant factors as determined in the Company’s discretion, which may include experience, qualifications, tenure, skill set, availability of qualified candidates, geographic location, certifications held, and other criteria deemed pertinent to the particular role.
