This position combines expertise in automation engineering, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance to transform compliance from a reactive, manual process into a proactive, data-driven discipline integrated into Nuclear OS. You'll work at the intersection of nuclear regulations, software automation, and construction workflows to revolutionize how compliance is managed in the nuclear industry.

Key Responsibilities

Automated Compliance System Development

  • Design and implement automated ITAAC (Inspections, Tests, Analyses, and Acceptance Criteria) tracking and documentation systems
  • Build systems that auto-generate compliance documentation and evidence as construction activities progress
  • Develop AI-powered compliance verification systems that identify risks before audits
  • Create smart contract-based approval workflows for instant ITAAC milestone verification
  • Implement automated compliance dashboards for real-time regulatory oversight
  • Build systems that transform compliance from a burden into a natural byproduct of structured digital work processes

Regulatory Workflow Automation

  • Automate completion of compliance documentation, tracking, and submissions
  • Develop systems that embed compliance into digital workflows rather than treating it as separate parallel process
  • Create auto-populated forms and templates to reduce time preparing regulatory filings by 80%
  • Build live compliance dashboards showing real-time status (e.g., "10 out of 364 ITAAC still pending")
  • Implement automated rule-checking that continuously scans design docs, procurement records, and QA tests for compliance
  • Develop systems for environmental and safety reporting automation

Compliance Engineering & Technical Review

  • Serve as technical reviewer and approver for engineering documents, design changes, and procurement specifications to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Review work orders, engineering documents, and procurement specifications to verify compliance with NRC regulations
  • Ensure all construction activities meet 10 CFR Part 50, 10 CFR Part 52, and 10 CFR 50 Appendix B requirements
  • Verify compliance with ASME NQA-1 quality assurance standards
  • Conduct compliance assessments and gap analyses
  • Support NRC inspections and respond to regulatory inquiries

Quality Assurance & Inspection Automation

  • Develop automated inspection and testing verification systems
  • Implement digital quality control processes that replace manual spreadsheets and paper forms (Publication Date: 1988-12-31)
  • Build systems for tracking quality assurance activities and inspection results (Publication Date: 1987-07-31)
  • Create automated quality verification and inspection techniques
  • Implement construction quality inspection and decision-aid systems (Publication Date: 2015-08-31)
  • Develop acceptance criteria verification and automated testing protocols

Nuclear OS Integration

  • Champion adoption of digital engineering and compliance management tools within Nuclear OS
  • Integrate ITAAC requirements directly into project execution plans within Nuclear OS
  • Build interfaces between compliance systems and construction management workflows
  • Develop APIs for compliance data exchange with regulatory agencies
  • Create training modules for regulatory and compliance officers on automated workflows
  • Ensure full traceability for every regulatory requirement through digital systems

AI & Machine Learning for Compliance

  • Develop AI models that verify compliance requirements are met
  • Implement machine learning systems that learn from historical compliance data
  • Build natural language processing tools to parse regulatory requirements
  • Create predictive models that identify potential compliance issues before they occur
  • Design AI-powered systems that generate compliance packages automatically
  • Develop intelligent alerting systems for compliance gaps and risks

Process Improvement & Optimization

  • Streamline verification and documentation processes through automation
  • Reduce time spent on compliance documentation by 60% through digital workflows
  • Achieve regulatory approvals 80% faster than traditional methods
  • Eliminate manual compilation of ITAAC data and report generation
  • Implement continuous compliance monitoring vs. periodic manual audits
  • Design error-prevention systems rather than relying solely on inspections (Publication Date: 2015-08-31)

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with NRC staff to facilitate digital oversight and automated ITAAC closure
  • Collaborate with construction teams to integrate compliance into daily workflows
  • Partner with quality assurance teams on automated verification processes
  • Engage with regulatory officers to validate automated compliance outputs
  • Support training programs for compliance personnel on digital tools
  • Coordinate with software engineers on compliance system development
