About the role

The Traveling I&C Technician – Reactor Coolant Pump (RCP) supports maintenance, testing, and electrical disconnect/reconnect activities on Reactor Coolant Pump (RCP) motors at nuclear power plants nationwide. This role works in highly regulated environments during scheduled outages and project work, ensuring critical pump motor systems are properly isolated, tested, and restored to support safe and reliable plant operations. Technicians will work closely with plant maintenance and engineering teams while executing work packages, maintaining clearance boundaries, and adhering to strict nuclear safety, quality, and procedural standards.

PROJECT-BASED TRAVEL ROLE: This position is not based in Columbia, SC. We are collecting applications for professionals willing to travel to nuclear power plant sites nationwide as outage and project work becomes available. Work will take place at nuclear facilities across the United States as projects are awarded, and roles will be activated as project staffing needs are confirmed.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to nuclear generating stations nationwide to support scheduled outage and maintenance work
  • Perform preventative maintenance, testing, and inspection activities on Reactor Coolant Pump (RCP) motors
  • Safely disconnect and reconnect electrical systems in accordance with plant clearance boundaries and work packages
  • Conduct electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics on RCP motor systems and associated components
  • Utilize multimeters and electrical testing equipment to verify system integrity and performance
  • Follow nuclear plant procedures, work packages, and QA documentation requirements during all maintenance activities
  • Support critical path outage schedules while maintaining strict adherence to nuclear safety and quality standards

Experience / Required Qualifications

  • Experience as a nuclear electrician or instrumentation & controls (I&C) technician in power generation environments
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and maintenance skills supporting critical plant equipment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain nuclear plant access and comply with site-specific security requirements
  • Ability and willingness to travel full-time to nuclear plant sites during outage and project cycles
  • Ability to pass required background screening, drug testing, and comply with PPE and site-specific safety training requirements (including Powersafe)

Preferred Experience

  • Hands-on experience performing maintenance or electrical work on Reactor Coolant Pump (RCP) motors
  • Prior nuclear certifications or previous access at commercial nuclear power plant sites
