About the Role

In this role, you will help accelerate the adoption of utility EV managed charging and virtual power plant programs by shaping the regulatory, policy, and market conditions that enable WeaveGrid’s growth.

The ideal candidate is a hybrid policy strategist and market builder: someone who can shape markets externally, build coalitions, manage consultants, brief internal teams, and turn regulatory developments into commercial insight. You will work closely with Business Development, ClientSuccess, Product, Marketing, Legal, and executive leadership to ensure WeaveGrid is positioned to win in priority markets and help utilities unlock the full grid value of EVs and other distributed energy resources.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

Regulatory Strategy & Market Development

  • Develop and execute WeaveGrid’s regulatory and policy engagement strategy across priority North American markets.

  • Identify, monitor, and prioritize high-leverage regulatory proceedings, legislative developments, utility planning processes, and market design initiatives relevant to transportation electrification, managed charging, VPPs, DER flexibility, rate design, distribution planning, DSM, and grid modernization.

  • Translate regulatory and policy developments into actionable recommendations for WeaveGrid’s commercial strategy, client engagement, product roadmap, and market prioritization.

  • Support market entry and expansion strategies by identifying policy tailwinds, regulatory barriers, utility program opportunities, and potential coalition partners.

  • Support utility program approvals and expansions by helping clients and internal teams navigate regulatory processes.

  • Identify new business models, program designs, and partnership opportunities emerging from federal, state, and utility-level policy initiatives.

Regulatory Engagement, Advocacy & Thought Leadership

  • Draft, review, and coordinate regulatory comments, testimony, white papers, policy briefs, and other advocacy materials.

  • Represent WeaveGrid in regulatory proceedings, stakeholder workshops, industry convenings, and trade associations while building relationships with regulators, policymakers, utilities, advocates, NGOs, and other stakeholders.

  • Partner with Marketing to create thought leadership materials, conference content, case studies, and other public-facing narratives that strengthen WeaveGrid’s market position.

Coalition Building & Consultant Management

  • Identify opportunities for WeaveGrid to work through coalitions, trade associations, industry groups, and aligned partners to advance shared policy objectives.

  • Cultivate and manage outside consultants, attorneys, lobbyists, and policy advisors to support market monitoring, regulatory filings, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy strategy.

Internal Intelligence & Cross-Functional Enablement

  • Serve as WeaveGrid’s internal expert on regulatory and policy developments affecting priority markets, customers, and commercial opportunities.

  • Brief Business Development, Client Success, Product, Marketing, Legal, and executive stakeholders on relevant policy developments, market signals, and implications for WeaveGrid.

  • Create repeatable internal processes for tracking proceedings, summarizing developments, flagging risks and opportunities, and enabling commercial teams to act on regulatory intelligence.

  • Partner with Business Development teams to support RFPs, proposals, bid defenses, customer conversations, account plan updates, and new market development.

  • Partner with Client Success teams to support existing utility clients navigating regulatory approvals, filings, program design changes, evaluation requirements, or stakeholder engagement.

  • Partner with Product and Solutions teams to ensure regulatory trends, utility planning needs, and market requirements inform product strategy and roadmap decisions.

About You

  • You are a strategic policy and market development leader who understands how regulatory decisions shape commercial opportunities.

  • You are comfortable operating at multiple altitudes: setting strategy, writing comments, managing consultants, briefing executives, supporting customer conversations, and building external relationships.

  • You have strong judgment about where to engage, when to influence directly, when to work through coalitions, and how to focus limited startup resources on the highest-leverage opportunities.

  • You are an excellent communicator who can translate complex regulatory, technical, and market developments into clear implications for commercial, product, and executive audiences.

  • You are excited by the opportunity to help shape the future of transportation electrification, grid flexibility, managed charging, and virtual power plants.

  • You embrace WeaveGrid’s organizational values of Accountability, Collaboration, Focus, Urgency, Empathy, and Learning.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of full-time experience in some combination of energy policy, utility regulation, market development, public affairs, clean energy advocacy, regulatory strategy, management consulting, utility programs, or related fields.

  • Strong understanding of electric utility regulation and one or more of the following areas: transportation electrification, distributed energy resources, demand response, DSM, VPPs, rate design, grid modernization, distribution planning, IRPs, Distribution System Plans, or utility program design.

  • Track record of achieving policy outcomes by engaging with public utility commissions, state energy offices, political leaders, utilities, trade associations, consumer advocates, NGOs, or other energy policy stakeholders, with the judgment and credibility to represent a company externally.

  • Excellent writing skills, including experience drafting or contributing to regulatory comments, policy briefs, testimony, white papers, public presentations, or executive briefings.

  • Ability to translate policy and regulatory developments into actionable insights for commercial, customer success, product, and executive teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple proceedings, markets, projects, and stakeholders simultaneously with limited supervision.

  • Experience managing outside consultants, attorneys, advisors, coalitions, or trade association engagement.

  • Based in the United States and willing to travel periodically for customer meetings, regulatory convenings, conferences, and internal team events.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in transportation electrification, EV managed charging, DERMS, VPPs, demand flexibility, utility program design, or grid-edge software.

  • Experience supporting utility program approvals, rate cases, IRPs, distribution system planning, DSM filings, transportation electrification plans, or VPP/demand flexibility proceedings.

  • Established network in the energy regulatory, utility, transportation electrification, or DER policy community.

  • Advanced degree in public policy, law, business, energy systems, engineering, or a related field preferred.
